Throwback Thursday: Castle Wolfenstein

Happy Thursday Gamers! I've been hearing news about the "Wolfenstein: The New Order" release on the horizon, so this Thursday we're going to spotlight Castle Wolfenstein.

Castle Wolfenstein was developed by Muse Software and released in 1981. Originally developed for the Apple II, it later became available for MS-DOS, Atari 8-bit and Commodore 64. It's a stealth-based action adventure game set in World War II. The objective of the game is to search the castle for secret war plans and escape alive. Players must sneak past guards, impersonate Nazis, and even kill opponents. The game gets harder as the player's rank increases and navigates the 60 rooms. The technology didn't allow for a lot of distorted sounds, but the voices added to the game
set it apart from others at the time.

It was hard to find reviews from the original release, but the success of the game speaks for itself. With releases stretching over 20 years, it's no wonder that we're putting Castle Wolfenstein in the vault!
