Originally created in 1989 for NES, Super Mario World was a piece of art and a labor of love. The team of 16 worked to create something completely different from Super Mario 3, and a fresh look didn't begin to appear for another year.
By 1991, the game was almost complete, except for one thing. The team couldn't decide one a name. The Japanese game was titled "Super Mario World: Super Mario Bros. 4", but the American version was simply cut short to "Super Mario World". The game was a huge hit, but Miyamoto wasn't happy with the game itself. He believed it was rushed and could have been improved with more time. No worries, Miyamoto - We still love Super Mario World and we're proud to add it to the vault! |
