Throwback Thursday: World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck

Happy Thursday Gamers! Friday can't come soon enough, but for now check out our #retrogame of the week. This week's throwback comes from one of our Twitter followers - World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck for Sega Mega Drive!

World of Illusion was a Disney game released in 1992 starring two of its most notable characters - Mickey and Donald. While preparing for a magic act, Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck discover a magical box. However, the box belongs to the evil magician Pete who sends the two to a magical world. Mickey and Donald must now work together to get back home.

Players could play solo as either Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck, or co-operatively while sharing from the same pool of lives. (When playing co-operatively, the players could stand on each other's shoulders and use ropes to help one another). The characters were able to run, jump or attack and turn their enemies into doves, cards, etc. After defeating the boss of each level, the player would earn a spell, allowing the character(s) to move onto the next level.

World of Illusion received good reviews. MegaTech gave it 90% and a Hyper Game Award, noting that it had "the best graphics of any Disney game yet." We think Disney games are a part of any gamer's past, and for that we welcome World of Illusion to the vault.
