The Zombies are Coming!

After browsing around on Twitter, GGR was surprised to learn how many of you obsessed with zombies (What a coincidence - we are too!)

To honor your obsession with these carnivores, we dug up the latest news about upcoming zombie games! Here's what you can expect later this year.

STATE OF DECAY • Release date: March 7th, 2013 • Platform(s): XBox Live Arcade, Microsoft Windows Everyone loves a good zombie shot 'em game, but State of Decay is an anticipated game with a different twist. The game will focus on how well you can survive the inevitable zombie apocalypse. Players will need to make critical choices in this open world in order to obtain the food, water, ammo and shelter needed for survival. The dead are on their way and time is of the essence. You need to be ready for them before they're ready to eat you.

THE DEAD LINGER • Release date: Unknown, Alpha released late last year • Platform(s): Cross-platform (pc, mac, linux) The Dead Linger is a first-person zombie survival game by Sandswept Studios. The game went into Alpha on October 31st, 2012, and eventually it will allow you to drive cars, barricade windows, craft items, explore diverse areas, and kill zombies. The game has had an initial Windows release and with Mac and Linux releases to follow. Dragging the zombie survival genre back into reality, the game requires you to use your head and stay on your toes to stave off the zombie horde. You are not alone, however: in LAN or Internet-based multiplayer you can compete or cooperate with up to 16 other players. (Paraphrased from The Dead Linger Wiki).

DEAD STATE • Release date: December 2013 • Platform(s): Initially PC. (Other platforms to be evaluated there after) "Dead State is a compelling, high-tension RPG set at the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. As society is beginning to fall apart, the player must organize allies, fortify a shelter, scout for food and supplies, and make uncertain alliances, attempting to hold together a group as humanity teeters on the brink of extinction. And although the zombies lurk as an ever present threat, the biggest obstacle to the player may just be other humans with the same goal: survival at any cost." FORSAKEN FORTRESS • Release Date: October 2013 • Platform(s): Cross-platform (pc, mac, linux) Forsake Fortress takes a different approach to the typical zombie game by focusing on features such as base building, character interactions and personalities, and scavenging. In this game, the player will need to step up and lead a group of people to construct a base and maintain its function. You never know when the dead will be coming.
