Kirby's Dream Land was created in 1992 by HAL Laboratory for Nintendo's handheld GameBoy. It was made to be a simple game and intended for beginning gamers. Many of the game's features were footprints for conventions that would later be found in other Kirby games. However, the trademark "copy" ability would not appear until Kirby Adventure (1993).
The game had received mixed to positive reviews. The pros either called it "too elementary" or praised its music. Fortunately, consumers loved Kirby, and the game sold 1.3 million copies worldwide. |
This game was the very first appearance of the unique character we all know and love today. Nintendo wouldn't be the brand it was if it wasn't for the Kirby series. Kirby, you've earned a special place in all retro gamers' hearts, and for that we welcome you to the vault!
